Community Building

I definitely felt more engaged in almost every aspect of my summer experience this past week. Almost everything that I had to work on or be involved with required me to become interactive with the people in my surrounding environment. I believe that Everything emblematized what the central theme of this week's experience was, and it was community building.

The day after my preceding blogpost, the majority of the GBCS interns decided to take advantage of the glorious day we were given that Saturday by exploring the downtown area of Washington D.C. in addition to the monuments. The most challenging part of the entire day certainly came towards its ending. The common urge for most in the group was the desire to witness the historical landmarks and monuments at nightfall. The only problem was that by the time we finished, all the trains had stopped running. We ended up having to  unexpectedly walk from the Lincoln Memorial all the way back to our home behind the Capitol Building. Although we didn't initially intend to sojourn across all of the National Mall, I believe the time that we spent with each other was valuable and wholesome. We were able to learn more about each other and appreciate the time in which we were spending with each other, knowing that these moments aren't always available.

I am also joyful with the relationships I have with my fellow colleagues and bosses at my workplace, Fairvote.
