The Capitol Event: The First of Many Exciting Days
It was a busy day in the Capitol. Interns, government
workers, CEOs, vice presidents, environment NGO workers and high-ranking politicians came to our event called the “Next
100 Coalition,” bringing with them so much sophistication with their elegant
suits and beautiful ties. They mostly talked about politics and about how to
make the country better.
The event was held to lobby against downsizing resources
meant to preserve national parks and monuments of America because this will
destroy the nation’s core values. Such is the need to preserve them.
To a young foreign intern on her first day on the job, it
was almost overwhelming. To me, it was a culture shock. In a nice way that made me wish I just live here. There's a part of me that wished that I'm surrounded with people I saw today at home. On that
day, I saw so much and I’m happy. I was assigned in an agency called Creation
Justice Ministries, which advocates for environmental justice and proper
treatment of Mother Earth in accordance to God's wishes.
Of course, our loving God wanted an abundant life for all,
hence the need to protect the environment. That’s why He wanted us to take care
of Earth, for our sake. I truly appreciate that this agency is doing the will
of God.
I am honoured to be a part of the Creation Justice
Ministries and I’m looking forward to many days like this. There is so much to say but this is it for now.
