The Journey of Hope
I am now realizing that my past was all planned—Fleeing war and living in third countries before making my way to the states, I believe was a plan of God; he wanted to show me the difference between third countries and a developed country like the United States and how things are handled in both countries—the struggles and every challenge I have gotten and those which I am still facing it’s just a passport to get me to my next stage of life. You might wonder why am I saying this? With so much going on this Summer, In American history, this period will go on the blueprint as one of the most controversial time in American Politics. This week I have witnessed rally after rally, people fighting for changes, justice and protesting against the new health care bill.
When I first came to the United States, the first few months it was tough, because of the language barriers, and I thought after learning English everything would fine. At first, it was fine, but later it turns out to be the opposite of what I thought it would be. My happiness has vanished, because of the injustice going on in the United States which is influencing other nations on earth, because they all look up to the United States. Justice for all is one of the principles that this country was created on, but we have misinterpreted justice and use it in a wrong way, where the most privileged have been recognized under the law and the most vulnerable have been forgotten and we claimed that as Justice. People every day “pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. The justice for all we sing does not know exist. Injustice has played a big role in making American great, and under the same circumstances, those who feel like there are the most privileged than others want to use the same injustice to make America great again. I have said this before but I will say it again, this country has made a lot of changes, we can all agree that we are way better than we were decades ago, but we are not where we supposed to be, we still have a long away to go and we still have a lot of work to do. That’s why youth and children; ordinary and extraordinary people gather and rally together because they all believe that real changes only can happen if we get involved, that’s why the fight for equal marriage was won and the healthcare for most vulnerable and the average people was launched.
Today, the current administration is trying to take the healthcare for the most vulnerable away and give the power for the privilege. The current Congress which both houses is controlled by one party is trying to pass bills which will affect the children fleeing persecution and violence—detain them and take them back to where they will be killed. The Supreme Court has decided to leave the Executive order to go into effect temporally until they come back in October—which will affect those who are seeking for help in those countries. This is the time where church gets involved, praying for the nation That’s why my fellow interns and I went to the 23 hours vigil because we believe in hope that’s why we are here to be a part of this journey of hope.
