It's my fourth week here and I'm officially half way into the internship and I can't believe time flew so fast! Life here in the house is going so well that it's actually left me surprised, I find it kind of crazy how well all of us are getting along. I've learned recently that my family will be coming up the weekend after the fourth which left me feeling really excited. It will be good to see them and get to show them around D.C. Work has also become interesting again, I'm doing more phone calls to get churches to sign up for an event that's coming up soon, I've also been given the tasks to organize some spreadsheets. Which might not sound pretty exciting but I actually really like organizing stuff on excel and google docs; it's repetitive but also relaxing. I also feel like I'm fitting in well at my job site and getting to know the others who work their better. It was sort of a whirl wind weekend last week; I attended a spiritual workshop in Maryland with my supervisor on Saturday, then after our church service on Sunday I attended an award ceremony for our partner company to set up a table at the event. This weekend was also interesting because we got to get closer to some of the other interns in D.C. Being with them and listening to their stories kind of made me feel less alone. it was nice to know that there are other people who feel overwhelmed by this city, and are just finding their way too. I also liked to see so many people who were just as passionate about social justice issues as I am, and want to find ways to connect the church to these issues.
