Good afternoon readers and fellow bloggers! This week was definitely one for the books and one that I'll remember for years to come. This past Wednesday I had the privilege to travel to New York City with my fellow EYA interns. I also got to spend time with an old classmate while I was there, but I'll talk more about that later. First lets talk about The United Nations.
On Friday, July 12th I got to go on a tour of the United Nations Building in New York, and it truly was an eye opening and interesting tour. From seeing all the different people going to or leaving from their work there at the U.N. was a sight to see. all different races and I'm sure with multiple languages between them. All going to work on the same place to come together to face social, economic and political issues around the world. Another thing that I enjoyed on the tour was learning about the United Nations and their 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It was very eye opening to see all the issues that the U.N. is trying to tackle, some a little more important and pressing than others in my opinion; however, all are very much needed. Listed are all of the 17 SDG's so you can see for yourself the issues that our world in facing and trying to tackle as of now.
  1. No Poverty
  2. Zero Hunger
  3. Good Health and Well-being
  4. Quality Education
  5. Gender Equality
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation
  7. Affordable and Clean Energy
  8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
  9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  10. Reducing Inequality
  11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
  12. Responsible Consumption and Production
  13. Climate Action
  14. Life Below Water
  15. Life On Land
  16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
  17. Partnerships for the Goals
Another great treat I got to do was see an old friend from school. We met up on times square, during a blackout and went to a comedy club. It was such a great time being with her and hanging out, it almost felt like a little taste of Texas all the way up in New York. This NY experience was truly one to remember.
Until Next Blog, Jaylon T.
