More than Just an Escape Room
Do
you ever take a step back to take a closer look at the situation or do you ever
find yourself wondering what puzzle pieces are missing to create a broader picture?
Does a phrase never make sense until you read it twice and it slowly starts
coming together to form a solution to a problem. Do you face an obstacle and think
to yourself how it is all related to the puzzle pieces you already have? As
things may seem to keep getting harder it might be getting easier due to
experiences you have or simply because sometimes in life you have to think outside
the box for it to all make sense. These are some of the questions and
statements I started to formulate when a group of EYA interns and I went to an
escape room earlier this week.
My
first time being in an escape room was more interesting than what I expected it
to be. The riddles and the clues are what makes things fun and enjoyable. At
times we seemed to be stuck, but then we would come to realize that many of the
answers to the riddles where within the phrases we were given. All we had to do
was put the pieces together to try to save the king from the ransom. We all had
fun putting our heads together to save the king before time ran out. The best part
about the escape room was getting the chance to see how it all came together in
the very end.
Furthermore,
it made me realize how much faster and easier things could be done if everyone
worked as a team. It also made me think of the special phrase that states “Working
in unity can create more outcomes than ever imagined.” Most importantly, it
made me think about my work placement for this summer works as a team to ensure
tasks are done to work towards their objective and purpose. In addition, it
made me think about all the people who I
see on a daily basis when I to go work
such as the construction worker, the janitor, the man with the hot dog stand,
the people working in Congress, and so on. It made me think how all these
people work within a team to construct something better and bigger for the
people.
Being
in the escape room was a lot of fun and I hope to do it all over again one day.
It was a great experience and was good to see how we all got together to put the
pieces in place. I hope to see more outcomes being accomplished with in
teamwork especially within our community as an ethnic group. We can really demonstrate
what we are capable of when we put our heads together and work diligently to make
changes needed in our community.
Team work is essential that is why we are gifted with community!
