The Fight
Open your ears, hear the noise, as the
people yell and shout.
Screams and chants, they go on for days
upon days, yelling trying to make their voices heard. The people
yelling for their rights to health care and food. Over the course of
the past two weeks, people from across the country have come together
to stand up to the senate as a new bill has been placed in front of
them.
The bill handed to the public, leaving
them scared and doused in fear as they could possibly lose the only
thing holding them together. Making cuts on Medicaid and SNAP,
leaving many hopeless if they have to come face to face with the
passing of this bill. Making a person choose for themselves or for a
family on whether or not they should choose health care or food, that
is not how it should have to be.
Although as some relief was brought to
those who fight, as the voting on the bill was pushed to after the
July 4th recess. Leaving the public only two more weeks to
change the senators minds to show them that this monstrosity of a
bill will bring them nothing but harm.
Rally upon rally, bringing people to
the Capitol to fight, that is where these people are. Standing up to
our government and expressing every emotion felt such as anger and
sadness. Help from those in the senate and other representatives, as
they stand side by side with the public showing their fellow
colleagues that they also don't want this bill to pass.
Mothers or future mothers stand outside
the walls of the Capitol yelling for plan parenthood, as it could
possibly be taken away from them. Sharing their stories on how it has
been there for them since the beginning.
People of faith gathering together in
midst of the night to stand for what they believe to be held true and
right. Standing for those who need these programs in order to live
and make it through their daily lives.
We, the people in this country, in the
United States need to stand tall. America is this evidently great
country, but we won't be if we take things that are necessary for
life away from our people. It's as though we have gone back in time
with this bill, but we need to keep pushing forward. We the people of
the United States need to make sure that this bill will be ripped
apart till it no longer exists.
A battle in our midst, that could keep
trailing on for sometime. We need to stand tall and firm to fight for
our fellow citizens and for these programs that change lives
everyday. We cannot be pushed down, we will not be pushed down. Fight
for what you believe in.
